Josh Allen's legendary fourth-quarter scramble halts the Chiefs winning streak
By Matt Conner
In a game that was already heralded as one of the most anticipated matchups of the entire season, one that should be a ratings bonanza for CBS due to the popularity of the teams and players involved, the matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills somehow lived up to the billing and then some. In fact, it provided the sort of heroic moment from Bills quarterback Josh Allen that will be talked about for years to come.
The Chiefs and Bills had already traded leads numerous times throughout the game on Sunday afternoon coming into the final minutes of the fourth quarter. The Chiefs then put the Bills on the ropes with an efficient drive that put the pressure on the Bills to score on their potentially final drive by bringing the score to within 2 points for a 23-21 Bills lead.
Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills come away with a big win in Week 11.
From there, Josh Allen took over and continued to overcome the Chiefs' best defensive efforts. Yet on another third-and-long scenario, the Chiefs were hoping to keep the Bills at bay with a field goal, which would have given Patrick Mahomes a chance at a game-winning drive.
Then came the scramble that no one could seem to do anything about from Allen.
Yeah that's Allen making several defenders miss and running up the score to a 9-point lead for the Bills with two minutes remaining.
If that seems familiar to Chiefs' fans, it's because it's the same kind of "unfair" heroics served up by Patrick Mahomes from time to time against other opponents. It just feels weird to be on this side of it. Remember this one from a few weeks ago against the San Francisco 49ers:
Mahomes Magic is fun to watch, but it's definitely not as fun to see someone else pull a rabbit out of their own hat. But if anyone else in the NFL can conjure the same acts of sorcery as Mahomes, it's Josh Allen, which is why the Bills are where they are.
