Even on his worst days, Patrick Mahomes still reminds you that he's a magician.

On Sunday, Mahomes was in the midst of turning a largely forgettable performance against the San Francisco 49ers in a heralded matchup between the two reigning conference champions. Still that couldn't keep him from putting his stamp on the game with a 33-yard sideline scramble to end the third quarter that sent everyone over the top.

In a rematch of Super Bowl LVIII, the Kansas City Chiefs visited the San Francisco 49ers for an anticipated display of fireworks. Instead, both defenses showed up ready to play and the results were ugly for both teams on the offensive side.

Sometimes all you can do is laugh (while the other team is crying).

Through three quarters, Mahomes' stat line looked like something from the days before Andy Reid arrived in K.C., perhaps a box score akin to Brodie Croyle or Tyler Palko. Through 75 percent of the game, Mahomes had completed 14 of 25 passing attempts for an anemic 123 passing yards and 0 touchdowns to go with 2 interceptions—extending his league-leading total to 8.

Despite this, Mahomes had the Chiefs on top 14-12 while commanding a long drive late in the third quarter that included this conversion for a first down.

Mahomes would go on to score a touchdown on a one-yard run a few plays later to put the Chiefs up 21-12 with this truck stick of a hit.

In case you were wondering, the responses on social media were somewhere between audible gasps and outright laughter.
