Ja'Marr Chase tries to stay relevant ahead of Super Bowl by throwing shade at Chiefs

Someone's salty.

As the Kansas City Chiefs headed to New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX over the weekend, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase was participating in the Pro Bowl. That alone wouldn't be worthy of a post on Arrowhead Addict (though some might find it comical that while K.C. is going to another Super Bowl, Chase is hanging out in the Pro Bowl, meaning he didn't make it to the Super Bowl) so let's dive into what Chase said about the Chiefs this time around.

When asked about the match-up for Super Bowl LIX, Chase didn't hold back. "Everyone knows I’m not a KC fan, so I’m hoping Saquon [Barkley] rushes for like 200 [yards] this game."

So, we can put Chase down as an Eagles supporter for Super Bowl LIX then, which is a surprise to no one. Chase has never been shy about voicing his disdain for the Chiefs throughout his career so it'd be a pretty big shock if he suddenly started rooting for a team that has recently had his team's number.

The Chiefs and Bengals rivalry began in the 2021 season when Cincinnati shockingly beat the Chiefs in both match-ups that season. Cincinnati beat K.C. again in the 2022 season and that's when the gloating and "Burrowhead" stuff started. It's also the last time the Bengals beat the Chiefs, as they've gone 0-3 against them ever since.

All Chiefs fans can do with Chase's quote is laugh and move on. Chase is only in the position he is to make this sort of comment because his team didn't get to the Super Bowl and he has to watch the game from his couch. These comments also make it clear that the Chiefs live rent free in his head.

Making this even funnier is that the Bengals failed to even reach the playoffs this season. Chase had an incredible year, Joe Burrow put together an MVP-calliber season, and despite finishing with a winning record, the Bengals just missed out on the postseason.

The only way Chase will get to play against his favorite team in 2025 is if the Bengals reach the playoffs because, as a result of finishing third in their division, Cincinnati won't have the Chiefs on its schedule this year.

Just remember -- While the Chiefs are prepping to play in their fifth Super Bowl over a six-year span, the Bengals will be watching from home and hoping like crazy that they don't three-peat.
