When you win three Super Bowl titles in four seasons, it's probably safe to say that you don't really have a rival. Sure, the Chiefs have had some fun playoff games against the Bills and the Bengals, but you may have noticed that neither the Bills nor the Bengals have actually won those games. (And Cincinnati does have one AFC Championship on the Chiefs, but who even remembers that really?)
Losing to the Chiefs leaves a lot of guys feeling a lot of ways, and no one personifies that more than Bengals wideout Ja'Marr Chase. Chase has long been on record as being extremely salty about how the Chiefs have, more or less, recently owned that "rivalry" in the Patrick Mahomes-Joe Burrow era. While being interviewed for the NFL's annual Top 100 player ranking, Chase was asked about who he thought the #1 player on the list was. His answer was deeply poetic, in the pettiest way possible.
Ja'Marr Chase proves that Bengals are still absolutely haunted by Chiefs
Delicious. Absolutely delicious. Honestly, I know this is a Chiefs blog and all, but it's hard to even be mad at Chase. This is what rivalries are all about. Not only does he refuse to even mutter Mahomes' name (fair, fair), but he also finds a way to pump up his own QB instead. *That* is content.
Moments like this won't ever get old. Mahomes and the Chiefs literally have people out here refusing to say their names out of spite. That's power you can't buy. That's what happens when 14-point leads with 3 minutes to go aren't safe. That's what happens when you can throw 65 yards down the field while running backward and being dragged down by three defensive linemen.
It's also objectively funny to listen to Chase say, "He's good, I'm not going to lie" like that's some sort of grand, courageous admission. Thank you for admitting that, Ja'Marr Chase. Thank you for not lying.
