It took one game for Breece Hall to prove why Chiefs should have traded for him

We already knew this was going to be a mistake.

Rewind back to the trade deadline. The Kansas City Chiefs opted not to make any moves despite there being some rumblings of a potential trade being in the works.

One of those trades was acquiring Breece Hall from the New York Jets. Hall had reportedly been asking for a trade after the Jets were selling off pieces left and right before the deadline but, when the deadline came and went, Hall was still a Jet.

There were reports that Brett Veach had been in discussions with the Jets for Hall but the two couldn't agree on what draft pick should be sent back in the deal. New York wanted a third-rounder while Veach was offering a fourth-round pick.

Well, in his first game since the trade deadline (the Jets were on a bye last week), Hall made the Chiefs see exactly what they passed on. The Jets running back rushed for 83 yards on 21 carries and had one catch that went for 42 yards and a touchdown, which put New York up 24-17 early in the fourth quarter. They'd go on to win the game 27-20.

Chiefs just saw why passing on Breece Hall was a huge mistake

Chiefs fans already knew what Hall was capable of. That's why a big chunk of the fan base wanted the team to work their magic and bring him to Kansas City. He'd have definitely given this backfield a boost and helped Patrick Mahomes by giving him an actual run game to lean on.

It's going to be frustrating to continue seeing Hall do what he does best for the Jets each week knowing that he was available but Veach didn't pull the trigger on bringing him in. Hopefully, the Chiefs running backs can step up and then we're not sitting here dwelling about this too much but until then, dwell away, Chiefs Kingdom.
