Kliff Kingsbury's phone is busy these days with the head coaching carousel spinning as fast as ever heading into the 2026 NFL offseason. Shortly after getting fired from his post as the Washington Commanders offensive coordinator, Kingsbury's name was attached to several new potential openings around the league..

At this point, it's hard to tell whether or not Kingsbury will earn a head coaching opportunity or make a lateral move to serve as offensive coordinator for another team instead of Washington. But teams are eyeing Kingsbury as a candidate worth interviewing for the top post.

So far this offseason, Kingsbury has interviewed for the Baltimore Ravens' head coaching position vacated by John Harbaugh's firing. He's also been mentioned for the New York Giants' and Tennessee Titans' job openings.

Kansas City is searching for a new offensive coordinator as Matt Nagy's contract has expired. So far, the Chiefs haven't made an official move to check in with Kingsbury, or at least that much hasn't surfaced for the general public. However, the ties are there, and if Kingsbury has to settle for a coordinator role once again after getting fired by Dan Quinn, K.C. could come into view.

With Patrick Mahomes under center, Kingsbury would already have plenty of familiarity with the best player on the roster. As Mahomes' college coach at Texas Tech, Kingsbury knows as well as anyone what he's capable of, and that level of familiarity would feature less friction than the potential hiring of other outside voices. Yet Kingsbury also comes with plenty of experience outside of Andy Reid's coaching tree and would likely have plenty of new ideas to add to the mix.

Former Chiefs wide receiver Hollywood Brown, whose one-year contract expired at the end of the season, only has good things to say about Kingsbury. On Friday, he put out a good word for his former head coach when both were with the Arizona Cardinals in 2022.

Brown presents an interesting case of "where will he be next year?" as well. The veteran wide receiver has taken consecutive one-year deals in free agency with the Chiefs. A clavicle injury robbed Brown of his first year in K.C., but he returned on a one-year deal worth up to $7 million for the 2025 season. He caught 49 passes for 587 yards and 5 touchdowns this year.

The Chiefs might be waiting for the dust to settle on head coaching hires so they know who exactly will be left standing without a team to lead. That might leave them on the outside of any present conversation surrounding Kingsbury and other head coaching hopefuls until the last team hires a new leader. At the very least, one former member of the Chiefs gave a ringing endorsement for Kingsbury, and Brown certainly wouldn't be the only one.
