Week 2 of the 2026 NFL season is in the books. The Kansas City Chiefs took care of business in their Week 2 matchup, but 15 other games were taking place. In those 15 other games, plenty of former Chiefs were suiting up and trying to play their best ball.
While the Chiefs saw some big names depart in the offseason, there are other big names who have left the team over the past few years who had notable performances (for both good and bad reasons) in Week 2.
Skyy Moore put on sensational show for Packers
No, you don't need to adjust your glasses. Skyy Moore did indeed have a crazy good day for the Green Bay Packers, his third team in as many years. No, Moore didn't dazzle as a receiver, but he put on an absolute clinic on special teams, notching four kick returns for 116 yards with a long return of 43 yards and four punt returns for 92 yards with a long of 63 yards.
Chiefs fans have always known that Moore can be a major factor on special teams, but he was drafted to be a difference-maker on offense, and that never came to be. For the record, he had just two catches for six yards in the Packers' narrow win over the Jets.
Orlando Brown Jr. struggled mightily with Bengals
Orlando Brown Jr. was one of the many left tackles that Patrick Mahomes has had protecting his blindside. Brown left in the 2023 offseason to join the Bengals, who, at the time, were one of Kansas City's biggest rivals thanks to back-to-back matchups in the AFC Championship Game.
The rivalry has since cooled off, and so has Brown's performance. He really struggled on Sunday against the Texans, allowing three sacks on Joe Burrow and sounding the alarm for Bengals fans.
Matt Fitzgerald, the site expert for Stripe Hype (FanSided's Bengals site), talked to me about just how bad Brown has looked through two games. "OBJ gave up 3 sacks in the first half, and granted, it was a tough matchup but... Brown was on skates pretty much the entire afternoon and Burrow got rocked several times, or had to evade pressure."
So, maybe it's a good thing that Kansas City didn't give Brown that massive contract.
Bryan Cook continued to show off with Bengals
I also spoke to Fitzgerald about former Chiefs safety Bryan Cook, who joined the Bengals this offseason. It's already been a noticeable loss for the Chiefs' secondary and a big gain for the Cincinnati D.
"Bryan Cook is awesome. He had a forced fumble on Bucky Irving and a fumble recovery in the end zone off Baker Mayfield in Week 1. He hasn't been tested much in coverage, but as it is, he's been on an improving trajectory in that area of supposed weakness the last two seasons. I'm not concerned. It's just nice to have an adult and a legit captain in the room at safety."
Chiefs fans are likely nodding their heads in agreement reading what Fitzgerald said there. Cook was a massive loss for K.C. this offseason, and it's going to hurt even more when the Chiefs and Bengals square off later in the season and they have to see him directly go against this offense.
Trent McDuffie picked off his first pass as a Ram
Arguably the biggest name to leave Kansas City over the offseason was Trent McDuffie, who now has two games with the Rams under his belt. He's played incredibly well in those two games and most recently picked off Jameis Winston during a Monday night showdown in Los Angeles.
Chiefs fans aren't the least bit surprised to see McDuffie wheeling and dealing with the Rams. It was a tough decision to trade him but, as we know, the Chiefs don't pay their cornerbacks so he was simply the next name to join K.C., build up his résumé under Steve Spagnuolo, and then leave the nest.
Leo Chenal a no-show for Commanders through 2 games
Leo Chenal was another big name to leave the Chiefs for greener pastures, joining the Commanders' defense. While the Chiefs' linebackers would gladly love to still have Chenal holding down the fort, Commanders fans don't appear to be loving their new investment.
Dean Jones of Riggo's Rag, FanSided's Commanders site, did not hold back on his criticisms of Chenal, noting that he's been a "costly miscalculation" for Washington so far.
"After joining the Commanders this offseason following a productive spell with the Kansas City Chiefs, linebacker Leo Chenal looked to establish himself as more than a rotational piece. Frankie Luvu's groin injury gave him the chance to do so, but the returns have not been encouraging. He struggles in coverage, and as a veteran, his pre-snap communication isn't up to par. A lot of hard work is ahead to turn things around."
This is disappointing to hear since Chiefs fans love Chenal and wish the best for him. Fortunately for the former Chiefs linebacker, there's still a lot of football left to be played, meaning there's plenty of time for him to turn things around with his new team.
