Former Chiefs roundup: Nick Allegretti benched and Skyy Moore finds his niche

Let's check in on some Chiefs alum.

The Kansas City Chiefs moved to 4-0 on the young season after taking down the Raiders in Sin City on Sunday. Meanwhile, plenty of other former Chiefs players were taking the field with their squads. What kind of impressions did they make?

With Jaylen Watson and Leo Chenal both injured, there were fewer recent departures to zero in on this week. Let's throw it back to some other names that we haven't touched on yet, while also sprinkling in a recent departure as well.

Nick Allegretti benched vs. Colts

Chiefs fans remember Nick Allegretti as a late-round pick who did wonders for their offensive line when called upon. The seventh-round pick jumped in and out of the lineup at guard and played pretty well considering where he was taken in the draft and the lack of expectations for him entering the league.

Allegretti was rewarded for his efforts with a contract with the Commanders, where his performance was up and down, but he received an extension from Washington anyway. It's already blowing up in the Commanders' faces, however, as Allegretti played so poorly against the Colts on Sunday in London that he was benched.

Dean Jones of Riggo's Rag, FanSided's Commanders site, was not complimentary of Washington's decision to re-sign Allegretti in the first place, so he certainly didn't hold back after the less-than-stellar performance.

"At last Washington recognized it relatively early. There was no point dragging it out with Allegretti. Everyone knew he was a lost cause..."

Trent McDuffie continues to ball out with Rams

For the most part, Trent McDuffie has played well with his new team, but he had a "D'oh!" type of moment on Sunday. The former Chief was flagged for DPI that ended up giving the Eagles a fresh set of downs in a goal-to-go situation.

Shortly after the penalty, the Eagles scored a touchdown, really making the Rams pay for McDuffie's mistake by going up 20-10. The Rams did end up rallying to win the game in dramatic fashion, though, and McDuffie played well aside from the penalty. He's got the second-best Pro Football Focus grade among eligible cornerbacks with an 89.1, so the Rams look pretty brilliant for bringing him in.

Skyy Moore continues to make an impact with Packers

Skyy Moore joined the Packers this offseason and has been a huge spark to their special teams unit. On Sunday against the Buccaneers, he returned two kickoffs for a total of 52 yards with a long of 28 yards and two punts for 19 yards with a long of 11 yards.

Moore's issues in Kansas City were never about his efforts on special teams but rather his lackluster performance on offense. That's true in Green Bay as well, as he has just six catches for 35 yards in four games.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling a non-factor for Chargers

Chiefs fans probably all made jokes about how the team is gearing up to bring back Marquez Valdes-Scantling now that Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton are injured, but the joke's on them because MVS is already on a team. He's a member of the division-rival Chargers, where he's made little impact so far.

Valdes-Scantling played sparingly on Sunday in Seattle and had just one target in the 30-23 loss. He's been targeted twice through two games with zero catches. Who knows, maybe a Chiefs reunion could still be in the works, but Chiefs fans are fine if the Chargers want to keep him.
