The Philadelphia Eagles signed quarterback Ian Book to their practice squad on Thursday, just days after waiving him, as the team makes last-minute roster moves in preparation for their game against the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round of the NFL postseason.

A journeyman quarterback who ha splayed for several teams, Book was with the Kansas City Chiefs just one year ago as he was signed to a futures deal last January to compete with Chris Oladokun on the depth chart

The Chiefs ended up releasing Book in August before active roster cuts were due.

A former Notre Dame star under cener, Book was originally selected in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints. Book even managed to start a game late that year in the wake of several injuries to quarterbacks higher on the depth chart. However, he only lasted that year with the Saints as the team would go on to release him outright the following summer after training camp.

Book has been with multiple teams since then, including a previous stint with the Eagles and the New England Patriots before joining the Chiefs. Now with the Eagles, Book was insurance after the team watched Jalen Hurts and Kenny Pickett dealing with injuries.

Book made himself memorable in Chiefs training camp with at least one unexpected moment. Following training camp for K.C. at Missouri Western State, the quarterbacks have a pizza party and Ian Book ate a reported 9 slices.
