The news cycle runs slowly these days as summer officially gets underway, but things have been funneling in slowly, if at all, for a few former members of the Kansas City Chiefs roster. Free agency opened months ago, but several familiar faces are still waiting for the phone to ring or the contract offer to come in.

While numerous Chiefs on the market have found new homes since mid-March, a few notable names are still available for interested parties. Here's a quick glimpse at the biggest names.

Kareem Hunt, RB

The veteran running back has found a meaningful home in the Chiefs' backfield for each of the last two seasons of his career in a reimagined role as a short-yardage ace. While Brett Veach decided to gut the running back position this offseason, it doesn't take a stretch of the imagination to picture Hunt fitting in for a third season with Kenneth Walker, Emari Demercado, and Emmett Johnson. The skill sets would complement one another well, and a four-back active roster wouldn't surprise anyone.

Nazeeh Johnson, DB

Back in the early spring, Nazeeh Johnson went on record with news that the Chiefs were still interested in bringing him back. Their actions, however, speak differently after acquiring several new defensive backs as part of another roster overhaul. The good news for Johnson is that multiple teams have shown varied levels of interest, including the New York Giants, Chicago Bears, and Philadelphia Eagles. At some point, Johnson will land a training camp spot, even if it's not in Kansas City.

Mike Edwards, S

Speaking of defensive backs, Mike Edwards has found a way to hang around as an experienced and trusted performer who can provide some security. Last year, he was cut before the regular season but stayed on K.C.'s practice squad and was eventually promoted to the active roster. If the Chiefs find themselves in a bind once again, Edwards could be on speed dial in a pinch, but it also wouldn't shock anyone if his time in Kansas City (and the NFL) is finally over.

Janarius Robinson, DL

The Chiefs signed Robinson last year to bolster defensive end position going into the draft. The former Raiders edge stuck around into training camp, but a fractured foot landed him on injured reserve before the regular season began. Earlier this year, the New England Patriots offered him a visit, but he remains available as a free agent. Given the need for edge help around the league, it's hard to imagine that Robinson won't earn a look from some team.
