Find yourself someone who stands up for you the way Nick Wright does for the Kansas City Chiefs. Wright had been pounding the drum for the Chiefs being the best team in the league and, to his credit, he takes it on the chin whenever they lose.
Wright's First Things First co-hosts had a lot of fun at Wright's expense on Monday morning following the Chiefs' loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59 and the trolling was something that might even get a smile out of Chiefs fans after a rough game.
The first bit of trolling came when Kevin Wildes explained that the show had already spent money on celebratory props for the Chiefs because Wright was so adamant that they'd win. Wildes then popped a few of the streamers, sprinkling confetti on Wright who couldn't help but laugh.
Next up, Wildes and Chris Broussard asked Wright when he truly started to doubt his team's ability to come back in the game. Wright went into explaining how he felt fine when it was 10-0 Eagles and was then interrupted by a marching band donned in red that made its way around the studio.
The trolling continued when Broussard said that the Chiefs looked like break dancers in the loss. That then led to, you guessed it, breakdancers coming out in yellow Chiefs shirts to do their thing. Wright seemed a bit perplexed by this one, noting, "It doesn't even narratively make sense!"
The fourth bit involved a choir entering the studio and singing about how the Chiefs played their "F" game. Wright was trying not to laugh at this particular segment but it was hard not to when the chorus members were right up next to him belting how Tom Brady was the GOAT.
That wasn't the end, however. Trumpeters soon made an appearance to introduce Patrick Mahomes as royalty and the finale included the banners that would have been displayed had the Chiefs pulled off the three-peat.
Nick Wright gets trolled to the extreme following Chiefs' Super Bowl loss
Losing games is never fun and losing Super Bowls sucks but it was still hard not to crack a smile when seeing Wright's co-hosts poking fun at him on Monday morning. At the end of the day, football is a game, it's not the end of the world if your team loses. That being said, if you're the kind of person who takes losses particularly hard, you might not find these clips funny.
Wright has played his part in the Chiefs villains arc incredibly well and more often than not, he gets to flex on everyone else because his team has won three of the last six titles. This time around, he talked smack and now he has to pay the price. It's good to see him at least having fun with all of this.
