Brett Veach and the Kansas City Chiefs probably didn't think there was any sort of realistic shot of the team landing Davante Adams at the trade deadline. Considering that Adams was a member of the Las Vegas Raiders and they'd have to be crazy trading a talent like that to their biggest rival, no one in Kansas City was surprised to see Adams go to a non-Chiefs team.

Adams revealed during his weekly appearance on the Up & Adams Show that the Chiefs weren't even on his list of teams to be traded to. Kay Adams asked the newest Jets wide receiver if the Chiefs were on the list of teams that Adams would be comfortable playing for and he responded with "Negative".

Kay then responded with a bit of a surprised, "No?" to which Davante said, "That was talked about but it's I don't want to say anything crazy but the Chiefs were not on the list."

Davante Adams says he did not put the Chiefs on his list of preferred landing spots

When watching the clip above, it almost feels as though Davante Adams might have been interested in going to Kansas City but that the Raiders nixed that idea. He said "That was talked about" which implies that there was at least some sort of interest on his end.

Of course, no one can blame Raiders GM Tom Telesco for not letting Adams put the Chiefs on the list in the first place. The Raiders would have to be out of their minds to even consider trading Adams to not just a division rival but a division rival that has won three Super Bowls in five years.

Adams was never going to be a realistic option for Kansas City but fans were disappointed about the Chiefs ultimately not landing Amari Cooper. While Cooper and Adams are both in their 30s, it's hard to argue that they wouldn't have been immediate factors for this offense, which has now lost both Hollywood Brown and Rashee Rice for the season.

That being said, at this point, we should trust Brett Veach. He's only helped this team win three Super Bowls in five years, so why shouldn't we put our trust in him to find the right talent to help the Chiefs three-peat?

Adams was never going to be an option for the Chiefs so hearing that he didn't have them on the list shouldn't come as a shock to anyone. Enjoy the 2-4 Jets, Davante.
