One of the lesser-talked-about storylines heading into Super Bowl 59 was the role of Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

Hopkins, who joined the Chiefs this season after some underwhelming seasons in Tennessee, is playing in the first Super Bowl of his career, and while he's certainly not the same player he was during his prime with the Texans, it felt like he was good for a big moment or two on Sunday night.

Then, in his first real moment of Super Bowl 59, Hopkins dropped the ball – quite literally.

On the Chiefs' last possession of the first half, Hopkins had a bad drop on a third-down pass from Pat Mahomes that looked, on the surface at least, like it would have gone for a ton of yards after the catch. It was the latest in a long line of deflating moments for Kansas City in the first half, and Chiefs defensive end put it about as well as anyone could with his reaction on the bench.

I mean, yeah. Basically. I can't imagine how many Chiefs fans also fell off their couch in that exact same moment. And sure, there's about 29 minutes worth of frustration behind that reaction, too, but objectively speaking, that's just kinda the night it's been for Kansas City's offense in a nutshell.

It's also the exact opposite of what you're looking for out of Hopkins. Kansas City hasn't really used him much during its playoff run and the mindset seemed to be that they didn't need to until the Super Bowl. This is the game the Chiefs made that trade with in mind, and the first look we got was disastrous.

Maybe this will end up being the highlight that everyone shows before one of the all-time great Super Bowl comebacks, but for now, it's just shaping up to be the meme that every Chiefs fans sends each other for the entire offseason.

So maybe that's a nice silver lining? That everyone can bond in sadness over this one video? No? Not at all? Fair enough.
