Good luck everybody else!

The Kansas City Chiefs are the AFC champions once again. This time, the trip to the Super Bowl was clinched with the Chiefs holding off the Buffalo Bills, who had more than enough opportunities to try and win the game in the final minutes.

People are sick of seeing the Chiefs in the Super Bowl and were probably wishing like crazy that the Bills would be able to end all of the three-peat talk. The Bills weren't up to the task though and now the Chiefs will have a shot to make history when they head to New Orleans next week for a date with the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.

When speaking to ESPN following the AFC Championship Game, Chris Jones outlined exactly why the Chiefs continue to win these big games. With him being a defensive guy, it shouldn't be surprising that his response was all about defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.

“As long as they continue to let Spags be our defensive coordinator and not hire him as a head coach, we’re going to continue to win,” Jones said on ESPN. “For me, he’s one of the greatest assistant coaches to ever coach the game. You look at his resume, he’s got one of the greatest resumes. He finds a way to close. That’s what Spags does.”

Jones: As long as Spagnuolo is DC, Chiefs will keep winning.

Jones laid it out for everyone right there. He says that as long as Spags is the defensive coordinator in Kansas City, the Chiefs will continue to win these games. It's hard to argue too much with him there, as Spagnuolo immediately turned around a bad defense.

The Chiefs fired Bob Sutton after his defense crapped the bed in the 2018 season, then Spagnuolo came in and the Chiefs won their first Super Bowl title in 50 years. In 2023, the Chiefs didn't look to have any business making it to the Super Bowl after their offense regressed mightily but Spags' defense came to play and helped make the dynasty possible.

Even with Spagnuolo's defenses playing incredibly well every year, teams haven't wanted to hire him as a head coach. Perhaps that's because of his age (he's 65) or the fact that his previous stint as a head coach (the 2009-2011 seasons with the St. Louis Rams) didn't go well but either way, Jones has told teams how to stop the dynastic run that K.C. is on.

If someone were to hire Spagnuolo as their head coach, the Chiefs might not be the same team anymore. Will someone call Jones' bluff? Let's hope not.
