The Kansas City Chiefs came through in the playoffs once again. With a win in Sunday's AFC Championship game against the visiting Buffalo Bills, the vision for a historic three-peat rolls on. Part of what makes the Chiefs so good is how their stars elevate in the biggest moments, and a key part of their conference victory was defensive tackle Chris Jones.
Jones received his well-earned contract extension last offseason in part for how he dominates in the playoffs. Wreaking havoc just seems to come easy for the Kansas City lineman when the lights shine brightest. And from the jump, Jones made life difficult for Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.
Kansas City jumped out to an early 7-0 lead. As a result, the Chiefs were able to generate multiple pressures in the first part of the contest. As Nate Tice of Yahoo Sports pointed out, the Bills left Chris Jones blocked one-on-one on 11 occasions in the first half. The K.C. pass rusher created seven pressures out of those reps.
Chris Jones was an unstoppable force in the middle against the Buffalo Bills in the AFFCG.
Allen was holding onto the ball longer in the early going as well. Jones was very close to creating a strip sack or taking him down for a sack on multiple downs. Then when it came time to shut Allen down later in the game, Jones was a key part of stuffing the Bills' quarterback on a sneak attempt on fourth down. The Chiefs' defender helped push Buffalo blockers off their spot toward the offense's left. It bunched up traffic and left Allen short of his goal, which gave the ball back to Kansas City.

Part of the big three on the Chiefs roster, along with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, Chris Jones made a simple statement about getting a chance at a three-peat. "All we wanted was the opportunity to get there," Jones said after Sunday's win. "We're there. Now, we've just got to close the deal."
Now with a chance at another Super Bowl win, Jones will be tasked with slowing down one of the more powerful offenses in the entire NFL. The Philadelphia Eagles are dominating opponents with the run game. With the duo of Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia is helping to reintroduce a smashmouth era in the league. Not to mention, the Eagles have arguably the best offensive lines in the NFL. Jones will look to elevate his game for the Kansas City defense, yet again.
