Chiefs' ties to high-ceiling tackle are stronger than ever before start of draft

The 2025 NFL Draft is finally here and for Kansas City Chiefs fans who have been paying attention to mock drafts, Josh Simmons is probably a name you've seen tied to the Chiefs a lot. It makes sense that these two would make sense as a pairing given the Chiefs' late first-round selection and Simmons being projected to go around there due to an injury he suffered in October.

While the injury could be a concern for some, there is some good news on that front. According to The Draft Network's Ryan Fowler, "All positives on Josh Simmons’ medicals. KC a common fit."

Chiefs fans won't be shocked to continue hearing these two linked together. The Chiefs need help at offensive tackle and Simmons could fill that need. Yes, they signed Jaylon Moore and have Jawaan Taylor but last year showed that there can never be too many good tackles on the roster.

For what it's worth, Simmons came in at 28th on Arrowhead Addict's big board, meaning the Chiefs would land solid value getting him with the 31st pick (assuming they stay put).

Chiefs continue to be linked to OT Josh Simmons

While this would be a popular pick amongst Chiefs fans, a lot of other teams have their eyes on adding offensive tackles so I'm not convinced that Simmons makes it to the end of the first round. The Chiefs could decide to move up but some NFL analysts think the team will go in a different direction.

After all, the Chiefs signed Moore to play left tackle and have Taylor on the right side so are they really planning to have their first-round pick sit on the sideline? This does make sense but offensive tackle is such an important position and Moore has only started 12 games during his four-year career so the jury is still out on if he'll be a good player for them or not.

The Chiefs have plenty of directions they could go in with their first-round pick so it'll be interesting to see if they go the route everyone seems to think they will or if Simmons will land elsewhere.
