While the Kansas City Chiefs enjoyed having the first week of the playoffs off, three other AFC playoff games took place. There were two games on Saturday that saw the Texans end the Chargers' season and the Ravens send the Steelers packing.
On Sunday, Chiefs fans got to witness another division rival see their season come to an end, as the Bills wiped the floor with the Broncos. We're now onto the second round of the playoffs and the Chiefs officially know who they'll be playing.
Who will the Kansas City Chiefs face in the divisional round of the playoffs?
With the better seeds winning every game on the AFC side of things, the number-one-seeded Chiefs will host the fourth-seeded Texans. Meanwhile, the Bills will host the Ravens in what should be an absolute banger of a game.
The Chiefs saw the Texans not long ago, as the two squared off in Week 16 for a Saturday game at Arrowhead Stadium. Kansas City won the game by eight points but it didn't feel as close as that final score would indicate, as the offense looked consistent and the defense did a nice job shutting down C.J. Stroud and the Texans offense.
This is a match-up that Chiefs fans would have absolutely been thrilled with heading into the playoffs, as Houston was not playing good football in the final month or so. They got thumped by the Ravens on Christmas Day and not many people gave them any chance of beating the Chargers this weekend.
While the Texans offense figured out how to get past the Chargers, the Bolts' defense had been exposed as a fraud throughout the season whenever they played better offenses. The Chiefs defense should be able to give Stroud more problems and hopefully limit the Texans offense from doing much.
A date with the Houston Texans is all that stands in between the Chiefs' way of making their seventh straight AFC Championship Game appearance (and hosting their sixth in that span). While the Texans might have looked like a pushover at the end of the regular season, their win over the Chargers showed that they still have some fight left in them. This should be a fun one, Chiefs Kingdom.
