The San Francisco 49ers have been waiting a long time for this moment.

When the Niners first submitted a draft card with Ricky Pearsall's name on it, the hopes were high that they were adding a pro-ready pass catcher who was going to give Brock Purdy another reliable target while providing some long-term security at a position with other big names likely to leave in future offseasons.

Instead of watching Pearsall grow with the offense in the wake of numerous injuries, Pearsall was among those on the sidelines after suffering a gunshot wound before the season began—a frightening moment that had everyone concerned for his health and safety. Fortunately, they'll breathe easier when they see him take the field at Levi's Stadium in Week 7.

The 49ers will finally get a glimpse of WR Ricky Pearsall in Week 7 against the Chiefs.

In case you missed the tragic story, one week before the Chiefs and Ravens were set to start the NFL season, Pearsall was reportedly shot in the chest by a teenager trying to rob him for his Rolex. Incredibly, his injuries were minor compared to what could have happened.

The hospital released him from there, but he's remained out on the 49ers' NFI list from the start of the season until now.

Even before the gunshot wound, Pearsall had also missed a few weeks of the preseason with a shoulder injury, so Niners fans really haven't seen much of Pearsall's skill set on display. As for what Pearsall will bring to the game, expectations should be measured, says our friend Peter Panacy, editor of Niner Noise.

"I’m just excited to see what he looks like on the field. He’s got some solid route-running capability and flashed playmaking skills at the collegiate level. Plus, his storyline since being shot in that attempted robbery last August makes him a guy worth rooting for. I don’t think he’ll have much of an impact soon. If anything, he might get a handful of snaps and maybe a target or two in Week 7. Still, it’ll be fun watching him finally get his chance."

The 49ers selected Pearsall at No. 31 overall out of the University of Florida, where he played two full seasons following a transfer from Arizona State. During his final season, he had 65 catches for 965 yards and 4 receiving touchdowns.
