With a week of NFL free agency in the books, it is abundantly clear the message these Kansas City Chiefs are sending.

Brett Veach is on a mission to get right back to the Super Bowl, and even though the game plan is far from finished, adding Kenneth Walker III, with Travis Kelce also returning, was enough for fans to forget about last season.

Veach and Andy Reid still have the 2026 NFL Draft next month, but free agency is also far from over. There are dozens upon dozens of players still looking for jobs, and the later it gets, the cheaper they'll come.

With focus on the offensive side of the ball, let's check in on a few notable names this team could go after.

After Wave 1, Brett Veach could easily steal four key offensive free agents for the Chiefs

Stefon Diggs, WR

Let's get this out of the way: Stefon Diggs could not be the Chiefs' no. 1 target. He's past that point, but last year with the New England Patriots, it seems like some poeple may have overlooked the fact that he still went over 1,000 receiving yards.

Diggs isn't what he once was, but he's still the savvy veteran who can win in key situations. And, that's good enough for Patrick Mahomes.

Let's say the Chiefs signed Diggs with an incentive-laiden deal and he hits all incentives.

That's money well-spent, because it likely means they're playing deep into the postseason.

David Njoku, TE

Travis Kelce is returning for another season. We know that. But, what about all of the successful offenses that are running out two and even three-tight end sets at times?

Why can't the Chiefs do it? What's stopping an offensive guru like Andy Reid from going out and signing the 29-year-old David Njoku?

Even though he turns 30 in July, Njoku is still a worthy target, especially if there are other mouths to feed, like Kelce. Just the thought of Reid's offense rolling those two out there at the same time, although they're older, feels like the Chiefs could do something special.

Signing Njoku wouldn't be the end-all, be-all, but between he and Kelce, the Chiefs would have two tight ends that will demand attention, no matter what. Njoku's market value projects less than $10 million annually, at this point, which feels worthwhile to a team looking to send a message in 2026.

Jonah Williams, OT

A former first-round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals, Jonah Williams has mostly escaped the conversation around being a "bust." Williams is what he is, now. He's a serviceable tackle, but not someone you want to bank on being an all-season starter.

Williams has endured some injuries over the past couple of seasons, missing a total of 19 games. For this reason, he will come cheap.

But, having started a total of 74 games since being the 11th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Williams brings experience. As a reserve tackle, Williams feels well-worth a contract right around $7-$10 million.

Deebo Samuel, WR

I had to include Deebo Samuel on the premise that, if he goes another week or two without being signed, the Chiefs could wind up getting a tremendous value. Already, he's gone a week without being picked up.

His market value currently projects at $15 million annually, which feels like a fair price to pay, already. The Chiefs are far from done finding their true no. 1 wide receiver for Patrick Mahomes, and it could come in the draft next month. But, Samuel is the type who makes any offense better, so long as he's healthy.

With wide receiver contracts out of control, a 1-year deal for Samuel with a base salary of $12 million and incentives allowing it to reach $18 million feels like a strong move for Kansas City.
