Darius Harris

That the Chiefs have upgraded from Darius Harris at this point is a good thing but that’s nothing personal on the fifth-year pro. The truth is that the Drue Tranquill caught a lot of us off guard, and the results are a linebacking corps that has never looked deeper since Brett Veach took control of the front office.

At this point, Harris is on the outside looking in for the Chiefs with no real hopes of returning, but that doesn’t mean he has nothing to add for anyone else. While he has obvious limitations (seriously, don’t leave him alone in coverage), he provides solid depth as an experienced vet with some pass-rushing ability and solid run defense who comes with two rings to his credit.

The Chiefs were high on Harris from the outset after signing him as an undrafted free agent in 2019, and he stuck around for all four seasons of team control for good reason. We’re pretty sure some in the front office would be happy to have him back if the unit weren’t so deep at this point with Tranquill, Leo Chenal, Willie Gay, and Nick Bolton.

There are plenty of teams out there who could use an athletic linebacker with his body of work and it’s surprising that he’s still out here looking for employment.
