2023 KC Chiefs preseason schedule revealed
By Matt Conner
The 2023 preseason schedule is out. Here are the teams that the Kansas City Chiefs are playing in their three-week slate.
With the recent shift to a 17-game regular-season in the National Football League, the trade-off on the overall schedule for players was that only three preseason games are played these days, a step down from the four preseason exhibitions that dominated the month of August for so long.
For the Kansas City Chiefs, the preseason will give head coach Andy Reid and his staff a chance to sort through some very serious competition at several positions. On the defensive side, the Chiefs have an abundance of riches at both linebacker and the secondary and will have to figure out how to sort out responsibilities and playing time. Drue Tranquill’s signing makes the second level as deep as ever, and two more draft picks add even more youth to an already dynamic and youthful defensive backfield.
The same can be said on the offensive side, especially of an offensive line in which Donovan Smith, Lucas Niang, Wanya Morris, and Jawaan Taylor will compete for starting tackle spots now that Orlando Brown Jr. and Andrew Wylie are gone. Wide receiver is also going to be a real battle with Rashee Rice joining a very young core that will see challenges from long shots like Justyn Ross and John Ross among others.
The preseason will be a lot of fun to see how these players perform and more, so if you’re anxious to know when and where preseason games will be held, here’s the full Chiefs preseason slate:
Week 1 – K.C. Chiefs @ New Orleans Saints – August 13
Week 2 – K.C. Chiefs @ Arizona Cardinals – August 19
Week 3 – Cleveland Browns @ K.C. Chiefs – August 26
