Kansas City Chiefs fans got a little early morning gift ahead of the schedule release on Thursday night with the team’s first opponent revealed!

Kansas City will open the 2023 NFL season against the Detroit Lions at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 7. The Chiefs will celebrate its Super Bowl LVII victory and then kickoff the new season against one of the emerging teams in the NFC.

Lions vs. Chiefs Week 1 odds

Sportsbooks were quick to drop opening numbers on Chiefs-Lions as well. FanDuel Sportsbook installed the Chiefs as -6.5 favorites (-115) with a moneyline of -280. If you wanted to bet the Chiefs to win by a touchdown or more, you’d have to put up a little bit more than the standard -110 odds and risk $115 to win $100 for example.

If you wanted to take the champs to win outright, you’d have to risk $280 to net $100.

The full schedule release will air on NFL Network at 8 p.m. EST, but you can already check out the opening odds for Week 17 of the Chiefs schedule against the Cincinnati Bengals here!
