The Kansas City Chiefs made a series of minor roster moves on Tuesday following the completion of the team’s recent rookie minicamp and further roster tryouts. In the wake of it, Sebastian Gutierrez came up as the big winner and was signed to the 90-man offseason roster.
Gutierrez is a former Minot State product who was an undrafted free agent a year ago and has made his way through much of the AFC West already. He first signed with the Denver Broncos as a rookie free agent and stayed with the team through training camp but failed to make the active roster. From there, the New England Patriots gave him an opportunity for a short period before being released again.
Gutierrez was snatched up by the Las Vegas Raiders in late October and he remained with the team through the end of the year where he was even activated by season’s end for a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
This offseason, however, Gutierrez has been waiting to find a home but a recent tryout with the Chiefs was the opportunity he needed.
As the Chiefs signed Gutierrez, they also cleared a couple of players by placing both Montrae Braswell and Blake Haynes on waivers. The former was a longshot cornerback from Missouri State, while the latter was a short-lived signing as an offensive lineman from Tarleton State. Both players can be claimed by other teams.
