The Kansas City Chiefs have submitted their third round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft: OT Wanya Morris.
With their third pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs have taken Wanya Morris, an offensive tackle out of Oklahoma in the third round at No. 92 overall.
In order to move up and get Morris, the Chiefs traded a seventh round choice to the Cincinnati Bengals in order to move up three spots from No. 95 overall, their scheduled spot, to No. 92 overall.
Morris gives the Chiefs a pro-ready competitor who was well-coached at Oklahoma (think Creed Humphrey) who was also a former member of the Tennessee football program with Trey Smith. Morris could use some reps himself before settling into a starting role, but he’ll be able to compete with Lucas Niang, another former third-round pick, for the starting right tackle role now that Andrew Wylie has left in free agency.
The selection of Morris comes after the Chiefs had already struck twice in the draft with a balanced approach with one choice on each side of the ball. In the first round, they grabbed Kansas State defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah and in the second round, they selected SMU wide receiver Rashee Rice.
The Chiefs now have eight picks remaining in the 2023 NFL Draft.
