Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce made an appearance on NFL Live. After being asked about projected 1st round wide receiver Zay Flowers, Kelce responded with a smile “He can help us out right now”.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce joined NFL Live on Wednesday, and with the 2023 NFL Draft approaching, he seemed to like what he saw from projected first-round wide receiver Zay Flowers.

A lot was made about an offseason workout where Flowers joined Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes in passing sessions earlier in April. Kelce was asked about his assessment of Flowers knowing Kansas City may look to add more weapons via the draft. Needless to say, he was impressed and believes that the former Boston College wideout would translate to their offense instantly.

Kelce did not shy away from heaping recognition on Flowers’ ability. He went on to describe him as “an unbelievable route-runner”.  Kelce also praised his athleticism and “love for the game”.  It seems that Kelce lauds the player on the field and the personality fit. Zay Flowers certainly made an impression on the future Hall of Fame tight end.

Kansas City has 10 picks total in the draft with pick 31 at the end of the first round. Flowers is projected to be a first-round draft selection by NFL.com. If the Chiefs are planning on taking a new weapon early they may have to trade with other teams.

After losing two key wide receivers via free agency—Mecole Hardman (New York Jets) and JuJu Smith-Schuster (New England Patriots)—drafting a player who can contribute at the position right away is a possibility. There is only one question to ask. Does the Chiefs’ front office share the same sentiment for Zay Flowers as Travis Kelce?
