Let’s take a look at the specific draft selections slated for the Kansas City Chiefs on day three of the 2023 NFL Draft.
It’s the teams who can sniff out very real talent and turn them into meaningful contributors on the final day of the draft that are often the ones picking near the end of each round. That’s because those teams who find cheap, cost-controlled talent in unexpected places are the teams that are the deepest in the NFL. Consequently, they can withstand the challenge of a long NFL season.
The Kansas City Chiefs have proven to be very adept at finding talent in the later rounds, and fans only need to look at last year’s rookie class for proof positive. The seventh round alone presented the team with a starting cornerback in Jaylen Watson out of Washington State and a lead running back in Isiah Pacheco out of Rutgers.
Joshua Williams looks like a future starter at corner and he was a fourth-round pick, but in his way for some reps will be L’Jarius Sneed, who was also a fourth-round selection. Trey Smith was an instant starter at right guard as a sixth-round choice. Noah Gray, Mike Danna, Nick Allegretti, and Rashad Fenton were all Day 3 picks in recent years who found a home as special teams players and rotational players.
For this season, who will the Day 3 picks be? Well, if the Chiefs stick with their picks as scheduled, they’ll bring in another seven players on the final day of this year’s draft.
Here are the scheduled picks for the Chiefs on Day Three of the 2023 NFL Draft.
