The Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly among the teams to spend time with Arkansas wide receiver Jadon Haselwood.

The Kansas City Chiefs have added a new pass catcher to their list of official visits with college prospects as the 2023 NFL Draft inches closer and closer. This time, they’ve reportedly set a meeting with Arkansas wide receiver Jadon Haselwood.

For those who follow college football, Haselwood is likely a name you’ve known and followed for a few years given his position as the top wide receiver in the country and the No. 4 recruit overall in the nation. He originally committed to Georgia and Kirby Smart but switched to Oklahoma and Lincoln Riley and went to play there. However, he transferred when Riley left and entered the transfer portal to play for Arkansas in his final season.

Last year, Haselwood had 59 catches for 702 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns for the Razorbacks, setting highs in the former two categories. (He had 6 touchdowns in his junior year with the Sooners.)

Haselwood profiles as a late-round flyer or, more likely, a priority free agent a la Justyn Ross. The frustration around Haselwood is that the weight of being such a heralded prospect has cast a shadow on him in every aspect. He’s had a single 100-yard game in his career. He tore an ACL in 2020. He’s not an elite athlete (4.66 40-yard dash at the Combine), and despite his solid frame, he’s not known for making a contested catch.

That said, if general manager Brett Veachs seems to like untapped potential, Haselwood would serve as an ideal test subject. He looks the part at 6’2, 215 lbs. with 10-inch hands (Skyy-sized) with good instincts, and looks fluid at the part (Alabama even offered him a scholarship as a defensive back). He’s got slot-level quickness but with his size, he could be a matchup concern for defenses. Of course, all of this is predicated on pulling things together at the NFL level in a way he never did at two collegiate stops.

Other teams who have reportedly checked in on Haselwood this spring include the Atlanta Falcons, Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans, Seattle Seahawks, and Green Bay Packers.
