The Kansas City Chiefs will use one of their pre-draft visits to spend some time with LSU offensive lineman Anthony Bradford.
According to NFL reporter Tom Pelissero, the latest prospect to come to Arrowhead Stadium this week to spend some time with the Kansas City Chiefs on an official visit before the 2023 NFL Draft is Anthony Bradford, an offensive lineman from Louisiana State University.
The Chiefs are allowed up to 30 prospect visits before the draft, and you can see the ones we know about in our pre-draft visit tracker, but Bradford’s inclusion is an interesting one because he’s an interior lineman. To this point, the Chiefs really haven’t taken a look at many players at such a position, but it makes sense that they might have interest, even if it doesn’t carry the positional need of other spots on the roster.
At the pro level, Bradford is going to project best as a guard and his body of work was exciting yet limited at LSU where he only started for a single season. For those teams who love his projection and trust their coaches, the latter of which is certainly true of the Chiefs, Bradford should be in the cards later in day two and forward in the draft order.
For the Chiefs, Bradford could play an interesting understudy role for the next season behind the likes of Joe Thuney and Trey Smith. From there, the Chiefs would at least have some security and flexibility when it comes to the increasing cost of their front lines. After all, Thuney and Jawaan Taylor are now $20 million men up front, and Smith and center Creed Humphrey are also approaching the ends of their rookie deals. Having Bradford in place could allow them to move on from someone if they needed/wanted.
Other teams expressing interest in Bradford, according to Pelissero, include the Minnesota Vikings, Carolina Panthers, and Seattle Seahawks.
