Some videos leaked of quarterback workouts featuring Trey Lance and Patrick Mahomes together and 49ers fans can only hope some magic rubs off.
The San Francisco 49ers were hoping to have the quarterback position completely figured out by now. Two years ago at this time, they decided to go all-in on a new quarterback in Trey Lance by investing the third overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft in the North Dakota State product. Unfortunately, injuries have kept him from showing what he can do with only four starts to his name in two seasons.
This offseason, then, is a pivotal one for Lance. The Niners found out they have a diamond in the rough in former seventh-round selection Brock Purdy. They also allowed Jimmy Garopppolo to leave the team in free agency to sign with the Las Vegas Raiders. Coming into his third season, it’s time for Lance to remind the 49ers why they pushed all their chips on him in the first place.
Fortunately, Lance has some serious connections because a video leak of some recent workouts this spring shows him hanging out with Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes—or at the very least working out in the same space.
Just being in the same room, and being able to glean from Mahomes’ wisdom, is what had so many fans excited on Twitter after seeing leaks of both players together.
