Former Kansas City Chiefs tackle Orlando Brown Jr. has found his third team on his NFL journey.
It’s still a bit surprising that his tenure with the Kansas City Chiefs was so short, but left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. has found a new home in the NFL—his third such team after only five seasons—with the Cincinnati Bengals after reportedly signing a contract on Wednesday night.
Per a report, the Bengals won the bidding with a four-year deal worth up to $64 million.
Brown first came to the Chiefs in a pre-draft blockbuster trade with the Baltimore Ravens back in 2021. After a failed chase of Trent Williams in free agency, Chiefs general manager Brett Veach decided to stop the bleeding at left tackle by swapping a first-round pick and other parts in a bigger trade for the malcontent, who was upset with his role with the Ravens.
With the Chiefs, Brown found a home on the left side of the offensive line, which the Ravens could not guarantee him with Ronnie Stanley signed long-term to be their blindside protector for Lamar Jackson. He went on to make the Pro Bowl in both seasons in Kansas City—it should be noted that he’s never missed the Pro Bowl—and won Super Bowl LVII protecting Patrick Mahomes in a stellar postseason run for the entire offensive line.
Unfortunately, Brown’s tenure with the Chiefs was also beset by further discontentedness—this time by not being the highest-paid tackle in the game. Brown wanted to reset the market with an extension coming in, but the Chiefs held off on those demands with the use of the franchise tag after his first year. When refusing to use it again this year, the team ultimately allowed him to flirt with free agency.
