Andy Reid confirmed at the NFL Combine that he’s unsure of the status of Greg Lewis.

Greg Lewis has a decision to make. It’s also clear that he’s been given some time to make it.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke to the media on Tuesday from the 2023 NFL Combine in Indianapolis. During his time with reporters, he was asked about a number of subjects, including the departure of former offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy. Reid wished him well in his new venture and said he hoped that Bieniemy would find success.

One more thing Bieniemy might find is a familiar face on his staff if Lewis decides to make the leap with him. Lewis reportedly went to interview for an unknown position alongside Bieniemy on the Washington Commanders coaching staff, and Reid confirmed to Nate Taylor of The Athletic that Lewis was still considering that role as of Tuesday.

Lewis is the Chiefs’ running backs coach at present after serving the last few years before 2022 as the team’s wide receivers coach. If Lewis is wanting to spread his wings, a shift to Washington might scratch that itch but it also likely comes with a cost—certainly at least in terms of organizational health.
