Let’s look at how Skyy Moore’s time in the 40-yard dash compared with the rest of his class.

Skyy Moore came into the 2022 NFL Draft with plenty of fanfare from scouts around the league concerning myriad facets of his game—from his hands to his toughness to his physical playing style. But while he wasn’t regularly mentioned alongside the true burners of his class, he showed up strong at the 2022 NFL Combine.

The Combine is the NFL’s annual gathering of college prospects hoping to make their way into the league. Beyond interviews and medical checks and media sessions, college players are put through a series of physical tests and drills in order to determine how they fare against each other.

One of the most popular drills is the 40-yard dash, and fans from coast to coast love quoting a player’s time in the 40 as a mark of his speed. The fastest times often generate significant headlines and buzz and can help a player leap up draft boards.

During Moore’s year, just one spring ago, Tyquan Thornton turned heads at the Combine with the best time in the 40-yard dash with 4.28 seconds. What was impressive for Moore was that he came in just a bit later with a time of 4.41 seconds.

That Moore was able to claim a Top 10 time in the 40-yard dash among his colleagues at wide receiver only bolstered his draft stock even more and secured him as a future second-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs.

The aforementioned 4.28 seconds time put up by Thornton made him a second-round pick of the New England Patriots and he was even taken a couple of spots before Moore. Several other top picks in the draft also registered in the top 10 along with Moore.

Here’s a look at the 10 fastest 40-yard dash times from a year ago.
