It turns out Patrick Mahomes without Tyreek Hill is better than Joe Flacco

Despite Barstool’s insistence to the contrary back in September…

If you were among the persons who believed that the Kansas City Chiefs offense might take a hit of some kind without wide receiver Tyreek Hill as a part of it, you should feel just fine about your beliefs. Really. Hill is a legend, is called the Cheetah for good reason, and was paid handsomely by the Miami Dolphins because he deserves it.

Any offense that loses a Hall of Fame talent will find itself facing predictions of a dropoff unless further moves are made to bolster that loss. While the Chiefs did add some nice pieces for Patrick Mahomes to throw to in 2022, no one would mistake any of them for Hill—nor should they.

In short, it was reasonable for anyone to think that the Chiefs might have a bit more trouble moving the chains this past season. But some predictions went a bit overboard.

Presenting Exhibit A:

In case you’re not well-versed in quarterback mediocrity, that’s the one and only Joe Flacco pictured under the words “Mahomes without Tyreek.” Yep and yikes.

Maybe the person constructing Barstool’s tweets last fall meant that Flacco had won a Super Bowl at one point with the Ravens and Mahomes was going to do the same, but we’re pretty sure they would pick another QB to symbolize that much.

Maybe it’s a math equation. Mahomes is 15 and Hill was 10, so one without the other does equal 5. Maybe it was all about creating some educational resources for early elementary math problems.

Or maybe, just maybe, the “doubters” that have been referenced all week by the Chiefs were very real all along (for those who were somehow unaware) and that some persons even thought a “no-brainer” Hall of Fame talent like Mahomes was suddenly going to turn into Joe Flacco because he lost his best wide receiver.

Ouch.
