Nick Bolton made sure to put on his cape before taking the field on Sunday.

Not all heroes wear capes. Some of them just set franchise records for most tackle.

Nick Bolton played the role of defensive hero early for the Kansas City Chiefs in the second quarter of Super Bowl LVII against the Philadelphia Eagles just at a point in the game where K.C. needed some serious momentum.

Shortly after the Eagles drove the field to score fairly easily on a nice touchdown catch by A.J. Brown, they were also able to force the Chiefs to punt quickly on a three-and-out that seemed to signal a potential turning point as the second quarter got moving. Instead, as the Eagles were hoping to move the chains a second time, Bolton came up big for the Chiefs.

On the play where Jalen Hurts was trying to take off with the football, he ended up fumbling it and Bolton picked it up in stride and scored easily to tie the game at 14 apiece.

For a second-year player who was among the leaders in Pro Bowl voting at his position for much of the season, it’s a breakout moment for a wider audience to show off his skill set. He’s been a revelation as a tackler and run defender since the moment he took the field for the Chiefs and this year he’s added leader and communicator to his responsibilities after taking over for Anthony Hitchens.

Bolton, who is only 22 years old, set a franchise record with 180 tackles this year. He also added 2 interceptions, 2 sacks and 1 forced fumble for the Chiefs this season.
