When your opponent is giving something for free in terms of yards in the NFL, you take it. After all, the sport is about moving the chains and scoring points, and whether it’s exciting or boring, if it’s generating positive yards, it’s worth doing.

That’s what makes the Chiefs’ run game against the Bengals so interesting. The Chiefs have lost each of the last three games by only three points each, including a heartbreaking postseason loss in overtime a year ago., yet in each game, they’ve been able to do whatever they want on the ground.

Over the last three games, the Chiefs have rushed 72 times for 432 yards and 4 touchdowns. That’s good for a very generous 6.0 yards/carry, and if the Chiefs can be over halfway to a new set of downs on an average run, they have to take it. It might not be as sexy as the team’s passing game, but with Mahomes’ ankle like it is, the Chiefs should take the proverbial money and run.
