Doug Pederson is putting together quite the playoff resume after coaching one of the largest comebacks in postseason history last week. He has a young team, a hungry team, a great young quarterback, and maybe the hottest team in the postseason, but what he doesn’t have will ultimately be the difference this week: Patrick Mahomes.
Mahomes is 4-0 in the divisional round with a 114.1 quarterback rating, nine touchdowns and zero interceptions. Good luck Jacksonville, I hope you enjoyed beating the Los Angeles Chargers because your playoff run ends at Arrowhead.
We’ll be backing Mahomes in our same game parlay, no surprise there, but first let’s check out the BetMGM odds for Saturday Afternoon in Kansas City.
I’ve used the BetMGM Sportsbook to construct a four-leg one game parlay that pays out +340, that means a $25 bet pays out $110.00.
Best same game parlay picks for Jaguars vs. Chiefs
- Jaguars vs. Chiefs -2.5
- Total Points Over 49.5
- Travis Kelce Over 84.5 Receiving Yards
- Patrick Mahomes 295+ Passing Yards
Jaguars vs. Chiefs -2.5
If the Chiefs have a glaring flaw as a team, they really struggle to cover a big spread. That’s a very good sign because it means you’re over a touchdown favorite often, but when they are, they rarely cover.
A big reason for that is that their red zone defense is 31st in the NFL in terms of opponent touchdown percentage. Because of that, I’ve brought this down, so all we need is KC to win by a field goal. I’m very confident in a Chiefs win and have them -8.5 from early in the week, but for this SGP, let’s play it safer.
Total Points Over 49.5
Again, slightly lower than Vegas’s total of 53, so just giving myself some wiggle room. Last week, the over went 5-1 in the Wild Card round and it would’ve been 6-0 if Brett Maher had made any of his four missed extra points.
The NFL has changed, offense wins championships now and both of these teams have offense in bunches.
Travis Kelce Over 84.5 Receiving Yards
Gerald Everett is good, but he’s not in the conversation as the best receiving tight end in history.
Yet, Everett had six catches for 109 yards and a touchdown for the Chargers in Jacksonville last week. Kelce will take over this game and he’s always been Mahomes’ favorite target.
Patrick Mahomes 295+ Passing Yards
In Mahomes’ four divisional round games, he’s averaging 308 passing yards per game and his season average was 308.8 passing yards per game.
Jacksonville has been one of the hottest teams in football, but Andy Reid is scary off a bye week and Mahomes is a killer in the playoffs. That duo will put on another offensive clinic this week and Mahomes easily cruises past 300 yards in the air.
