Kansas City Chiefs fans should not be surprised that tight end Travis Kelce dominated the fantasy football scoreboard in 2022.

The Kansas City Chiefs offense had a record-setting offense in many aspects during the 2022 season. While quarterback Patrick Mahomes is garnering MVP attention and putting his mark on the NFL record books, tight end Travis Kelce had another great season in his own right. He is still the league’s top tight end, as evidenced by his performance in fantasy football.

Kelce’s 2022 total of 316.3 PPR fantasy points is the second-most in history among tight ends. He only trails Rob Gronkowski’s 330.9 in a dominant 2011 season. Kelce has at least an 80-point lead over TE2 in all fantasy scoring formats, showing he produces no matter what.

Fans know how dominant Kelce is on the field, but he has been one of the best fantasy options of all time. Kelce has three of the top six fantasy scoring seasons among tight ends and is the only player with multiple seasons in the top ten. His fantasy stock shot up after the Chiefs traded away wide receiver Tyreek Hill this past offseason, and Kelce was routinely the first tight end taken off draft boards.

While Kelce’s overall fantasy season is great, his production in the season’s latter half left much to be desired. After Week 12, Kelce never had a higher weekly scoring position than sixth among tight ends. Kelce did have two games with more than 100 receiving yards, but he did not score any touchdowns after Week 12. Kelce did have two of the best single-game fantasy performances in 2022, scoring 29.5 PPR points in Week 11 and 26.5 PPR points in Week 5.

Kelce continued his fantasy production with fewer snaps in 2022. He played in 80 percent of the Chiefs’ offensive snaps in 2022, his fewest since his “rookie” season in 2

014. The reduced snaps kept the 33-year-old veteran fresher when the Chiefs needed him most. Kelce still recorded career highs in targets, receptions, and receiving touchdowns in 2022. His 110 receptions for 1,338 yards and 12 touchdowns lead all tight ends this season as well.

Hopefully, the former Cincinnati Bobcat’s 2023 season is more of the same, both on the field and in the fantasy world. Did you use Kelce in your fantasy lineup? Let us know in the comments!
