A hand laceration is going to limit Skyy Moore this week and his ability to play for the Kansas City Chiefs against the Las Vegas Raiders.

It’s not as if wide receiver Skyy Moore is ever in line for a ton of reps, but the Kansas City Chiefs are going to be without their rookie wideout for the next week—and maybe more—as he heals from a hand laceration suffered in Week 17’s close victory over the Denver Broncos.

Head coach Andy Reid spoke to the media on Thursday after practice and stated that Moore was already ruled out for the team’s 17th and final game of the regular season, a road contest against the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium.

Moore is being removed from the lineup just as the Chiefs are welcoming back Mecole Hardman to the active roster in a bit of offensive shuffling. Hardman himself is going to be on a strict snap count, per Reid, which means that more targets might be coming to the likes of Kadarius Toney as he continues to stretch his legs in the Chiefs’ offense after leading the team in receiving yards last week with 71.

This means the book is closed, statistically speaking, on Moore’s rookie campaign and the numbers are perhaps more modest than anyone expected. He finishes the year with 22 catches for 250 receiving yards and zero touchdowns. However, his opportunities have been restricted, especially in the first half of the season, and he should become a prime part of this offense next year.

Moving forward, it will be interesting to see if Moore can heal in time to become a factor in the postseason for Kansas City.
