Around the AFC West: Chiefs continue pursuit of top seed

The Raiders inexplicably decided to bench Derek Carr this week. Look, I don’t love Derek Carr, but there are about 18 other NFL teams that would happily welcome him to their squads. Quarterback is a position that you can’t mess around with and the Raiders are doing just that. Carr has now stepped away from the team to stop being a distraction and the Raiders were left with just two games in a disappointing season with the hot 49ers coming to town. The Raiders, behind Jarrett Stidham actually put up a fight:
Taking the game to overtime, the Raiders really almost defeated the 49ers and certainly caught my attention leading up to next week’s game.
The Raiders host the Chiefs on Saturday afternoon football in the season finale. The Raiders would love nothing more than to upset the Chiefs and keep them from the 1 seed. Because of that, the Chiefs need to get their act together. They have been playing sloppy and letting lesser hang around either through poor play, mistakes, or a combination. Do I think the Chiefs pull this off – yes, but will it be closer than it should be? Also yes.
