Biggest roster questions facing KC Chiefs at regular season’s end
By Matt Conner
Let’s look at some of the biggest roster questions facing the Kansas City Chiefs at the end of the 2022 regular season.
Every single team in the National Football League is looking at a number of uncertainties at this point, even those that have already punched a ticket for the postseason. The rigors of the regular season, the problems presented by injuries, the unforeseen roster issues that can appear over time—they’re all part of the quandary of any team that tries to climb the summit of a Super Bowl appearance.
For the Kansas City Chiefs, many of the same questions have been raised again and again this year with a young team learning to play with so many new faces on both sides of the ball. Special teams miscues have surfaced on a regular basis. New pass catchers have failed to develop chemistry or consistency beyond an occasional standout game. Play calling has turned oddly conservative (or even confusing at times). That’s not to mention some pass rush concerns and coverage issues in the heart of the defense.
Taken together, you’d think the Chiefs might be in a frustrating position but they’re sitting at 12-3 with home-field advantage through most of the postseason already locked up. It’s just that every team has serious flaws and/or concerns, and the Chiefs are not immune even with their winning ways.
Beyond the oft-mentioned concerns flagged, however, there are also some questions to be asked about the roster itself. With the postseason coming into focus, we thought we’d look at some of the biggest roster questions remaining for the Chiefs and how they will impact their championship hopes.
Let’s start with a wide receiver this team would love to see back in the fold.
