3. Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Running Back

This feels like low-hanging fruit, and it probably is, but Clyde Edwards-Helaire has not had the bounceback season that some were expecting. He has been injured for a couple of weeks but has only totaled 453 yards but six touchdowns in 9+ games this season. Six touchdowns is a lot, but five of the six came from within the five-yard line. He’s not having a terrible year by any stretch, as he’s averaging over four yards per carry, but ~45-50 all-purpose yards per game isn’t going to cut it from a third-year running back who was picked in the first round.

One reason why he’s on this list is that this offseason was the only full one he’s had his entire career and many expected him to see his quality of play increase because of it. 2020 was shortened because he was a draft pick as well as COVID, and he had gallbladder surgery early in the 2021 offseason. Despite no roadblocks, we haven’t seen his production see any meaningful increase.

Isiah Pacheco and Jerick McKinnon are now very clearly the guys over CEH and he’ll likely play a supporting role going forward. Andy Reid may rotate all three guys but with how well the current duo is working, I have a hard time seeing how CEH will play a significant number of snaps once he is activated from injured reserve.
