NFL picks, Week 14: KC Chiefs predicted to steamroll Broncos
By Matt Conner
In the latest bit of news labeled under “obvious”, the latest round of predictions is out for Week 14 and NFL experts and analysts are all in on the Kansas City Chiefs as they hit the road to take on the Denver Broncos.
Before this season began, there was every reason to believe the Broncos might at least make things very interesting in the AFC West. The blockbuster trade for Russell Wilson was supposed to alleviate any concerns at the quarterback position—the only real weakness on a Broncos team that has lost a major window of contention due to the ineptitude under center.
Instead, Wilson has raised eyebrows as an aging talent who certainly wasn’t helped by myriad injuries, a weak offensive front, and a head coach in Nathaniel Hackett who has been in over his head since day one. The Broncos are only three wins after 13 weeks while the Chiefs have cruised to another division title—their seventh consecutive win.
The Kansas City Chiefs are picked by NFL experts to steamroll the Denver Broncos in Week 14.
Perhaps that’s why the Chiefs are overwhelming favorites to beat the Broncos on Sunday.
Over at Pro Football Network, a three-man panel is unanimous in its selection of the Chiefs to win. Only one analyst, Adam Beasley, has the Broncos covering the 9-point spread with KC winning by five points. Bill Bender at the Sporting News doesn’t think it will be remotely close to the spread withe K.C. winning by 20.
Pete Prisco of CBS Sports has the Chiefs winning by a bit less but still taking the over and says the Chiefs should “get back on track” against Denver after losing to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 13.
That said, not everyone is completely sold on Kansas City’s dominance. At the very least, Vic Tafur of the Athletic is taking the points. He highlights Wilson’s improving accuracy and the Chiefs’ run defense as reasons to think the game will be closer than anticipated.
As for our own Matt Verderame of FanSided, he has the Chiefs by 10 and points out the fact that Denver must actually score points to win the game.
The Chiefs and Broncos kick off at 3:05 p.m. C.T. at Mile High Stadium on Sunday.
