Let’s look at the early odds for the Week 12 game between the Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs and make our own prediction.

When the National Football League first revealed its regular season schedule for the Kansas City Chiefs, Week 12 was one game quickly circled on the calendar. It was the week that the Los Angeles Rams were going to visit Arrowhead Stadium in a game that could serve as a preview of this year’s Super Bowl and also showed what might have been last year as well.

The Rams, of course, won Super Bowl LVI over the Cincinnati Bengals just last winter and came into this season hoping for another run. However, everything that could go wrong with a team has gone wrong—from past sins coming to claim their pound of flesh and freak injuries that no one could have predicted. From every angle, the team has been a disaster, which is why they are 3-7 coming into Week 12 against K.C.

Chiefs vs Rams Week 11 odds

According to Fan Duel, the Chiefs are favored by a rather ridiculous amount of 14.5 points. In a league known for its parity, the idea that any team could be 14.5-point favorites is a bit much but for a defending Super Bowl champion to be that disrespected is unheard of.

Then again, it’s rare for a former champ to limp into a matchup like the Rams are at this point. Right now, no one knows if quarterback Matthew Stafford will play or not. The offensive line is perhaps the NFL’s worst unit overall. The secondary has seen better days with below-average safeties providing little help. Cooper Kupp is out for several weeks with an injury as well. There’s very little to like on both sides of the ball.

It should also be said that the Rams are catching the Chiefs at the height of their momentum. They are dominating opponents and playing like they know what’s at stake. They’re well-coached and deep, young and ascending. They also employ the game’s best quarterback who is writing himself another MVP campaign.

Even at 14.5 points then, it doesn’t seem that crazy to take the Chiefs even against the spread. As for the moneyline, the Chiefs are at -1100 while the Rams are +700 if you want a random longshot. (Let’s not forget the Chiefs laid a total egg against the Colts in Week 3.) The over/under here is at 44, which is low even if you think the Rams will struggle to score much at all.

Chiefs vs Rams Week 11 prediction

The Chiefs have played down to some opponents, but they’re cooking with gas (as they say) at this stage and it’s hard to see them stumbling during their only home game in the next month. Expect the Chiefs to roll early and then trot out some younger players to see what sort of playing time they can get them.

Prediction: Chiefs 31, Rams 15
