Veteran defensive end Carlos Dunlap earned his 100th career sack by taking down Trevor Lawrence of the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 10.
Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Carlos Dunlap earned his 100th career sack in the first quarter against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He split the sack with Chris Jones. Dunlap is officially the 41st player in NFL history to surpass 100 career sacks since the stat was recorded in 1982. From the unofficial list, it puts Dunlap as the 62nd player in NFL history to achieve this milestone.
This is Dunlap’s first season in Kansas City, joining the Chiefs in late July. Dunlap, a 13-year NFL veteran, entered this season with 96 career sacks. Dunlap came into the game with 3.5 sacks this season, which ties him for the second-most sacks on the Chiefs with cornerback L’Jarius Sneed.
Dunlap, who was drafted out of Florida, joined a defensive line with an elite interior defensive lineman in Chris Jones, a veteran in defensive end Frank Clark, and a rookie defensive end in George Karlaftis. The addition of Dunlap has made the defensive line better. Under the guidance of defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo and defensive line coach Joe Cullen, Dunlap has been a solid contributor to Kansas City’s defense, which has the fifth-best rush defense entering Week 10.
Dunlap was drafted in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. He spent 10 full seasons with the Bengals. Dunlap recorded 82.5 career sacks while in Cincinnati. Dunlap was traded to the Seattle Seahawks during the 2020 season and returned for the 2021 season until he was released by the Seahawks this past March. Dunlap finished his tenure in Seattle with 13.5 sacks. He finished last season with 8.5 sacks, the fourth-best of his career. He is on pace to finish the 2022 season with seven sacks as a member of the Chiefs.
