General Manager Brett Veach and the Kansas City Chiefs are heading for the trade deadline. Where can they improve and who could they get? We discuss.

In what many speculated as the year that the Kansas City Chiefs finally get knocked off by one of their division opponents, the Chiefs find themselves on top of the AFC West at this point of the season. With that in mind, the Chiefs know that they are in an arms race with the Buffalo Bills and a handful of other AFC opponents. With the deadline approaching, are there any moves that they could make to put themselves in a better position?

We have made a list of seven players who should both interest the Chiefs and could realistically be traded at the deadline.

DJ Moore, WR, Carolina Panthers

Why it makes sense:

The Chiefs don’t have a top-level receiver outside of Travis Kelce. After losing Tyreek Hill in a blockbuster trade, Kansas City made it clear that they were not afraid to spend money on a receiver, just as long as the contract wasn’t the highest in the NFL. DJ Moore is already under contract on a mega-deal, but his fit with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City offense would be immaculate. If this is an option for the Chiefs, they should certainly give it a look.

Possible Compensation:

For DJ Moore, it seems unlikely that the Chiefs could get by without at least offering a first-round pick. Fortunately for the Chiefs, the chances are that they will once again have a late pick. Realistically, if Veach sees him as the guy, they may be willing to part with a first and a mid-round pick for him.

The bottom line:

If the Panthers make it clear that Moore is available, the Chiefs may be one of the many suitors. With that in mind, the Chiefs may have one of the clearest advantages to winning the favor with Moore. If it is up to Moore where to go, as it was with Tyreek Hill, there is no more appealing location than the one where you become the instant number one target at the wide receiver and you get to play with Patrick Mahomes.
