Around the AFC West: Chiefs remain on top after thriller

Las Vegas Raiders
Oh boy, that was a fun one! The Raiders really had us in the first half, but then a controversial roughing the penalty near the end of the first half caused the Arrowhead crowd to come alive and lit a fire in the Chiefs. Don’t wake the beast. The Chiefs ended up storming back helped by another, less talked about, controversial call:
The last time any team in the NFL got flagged for defensive holding on a FG came in 2015, according to the Associated Press. It was also the Raiders and the referee was the same referee from Monday night: Carl Cheffers https://t.co/KjWqPce3Mb

The Chiefs back up kicker missed a field goal, but instead, the Chiefs were given a first down and you just don’t give Mahomes a second chance.
At the end of the game, the Raiders had a chance, but Hunter Renfrow and Davonte Adams ran into each other resulting in an incomplete pass and a Chiefs victory. The buses waiting outside the stadium that had been summoned by the ghost of Jon Gruden took a sad trip back to the yard, never to have their victory laps around Arrowhead and Davante Adams got so mad, he assaulted a camera man. Also there’s this:
The Raiders remain squarely at the bottom of the division just hoping to keep their playoff dreams alive. Honestly, this team is much better than their record. They should certainly be in third place in the division and arguably could be in second with the Chargers’ injuries. However, that’s why you play the game.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Raiders get their second win of the season next week as they take on the winless Texans. The Texans just aren’t very good, have a pretty poor quarterback situation and not many weapons. I feel like this year, they are the team you play to “right” your season. Maybe the Raiders get back on track? Maybe, unless Adams is suspended next week. We wait to see…
