Former Chiefs WR Albert Wilson makes leap to Raiders active roster

The Las Vegas Raiders have promoted former Chiefs wide receiver Albert Wilson to their active roster on Tuesday.

A familiar face was given an opportunity to make a dent with the Las Vegas Raiders offense on Tuesday with the promotion of former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Albert Wilson to the active roster.

Wilson has been with the Raiders for less than a week after originally signing onto the practice squad—not quite in time to play against his former team.

Wilson has struggled to find work this year after the Minnesota Vikings signed him this summer only to release him before the preseason was over. The veteran wide receiver was a free agent at that point and watched the first month of the season back at home.

The Raiders have dealt with injuries at both wide receiver and tight end, working with a depleted corps of pass catchers in recent weeks. Hunter Renfrow just returned in Week 5, however, and Wilson can’t do anything to help the team with injuries to Darren Waller and Forest Moreau since he doesn’t play tight end.

Wilson will be familiar to Chiefs as one of former general manager John Dorsey’s better undrafted finds during his five-year tenure. Wilson was a rookie free agent who signed with the Chiefs in 2014 and climbed the depth chart for four seasons before signing a big-money deal with the Miami Dolphins in free agency.

In his NFL career of seven seasons, Wilson has 218 catches for 2,499 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns for both the Chiefs and Dolphins.
