You’d be crazy not to make this Chiefs bet right now

Through three weeks, the AFC West doesn’t quite look like the “best division ever” we thought it would coming into the season. The only team that won last week was the Broncos, and they didn’t even score a TD.

Despite the early struggles, there’s one obvious bet to make in the AFC West. Frankly, I can’t believe these odds we’ve got. Your Kansas City Chiefs are winning the division, barring a miracle, and you’d be crazy not to make this Chiefs bet right now.

Chiefs Odds to Win AFC West

Sure, Kansas City looked bad mostly bad against the Colts. But the Chargers have an injury report the size of a textbook, “Let Russ Cook” turned into a kitchen fire in Denver, and the Raiders’ balloon of hope popped immediately.

The Chiefs sit tied for the AFC West lead with Denver, but they’re the only team in the division to rank in the top five league-wide in both yards per play and opponent yards per play. It’s obvious, both through the eye test and statistically, that Kansas City is well on its way to a seventh consecutive AFC West title.

Unless you think Mahomes isn’t a top-tier QB, then the early results on the Chiefs are extremely positive. I trust Mahomes and the offense to figure it out – they’re fourth in the NFL in yards per play, for crying out loud. The real story is how good the defense has been.

If Kansas City fields an elite defense, it’ll run away with the division. Mahomes led a horrible defense to the Super Bowl, and early returns suggest this may be the best Chiefs defensive unit in years.

Perhaps the biggest reason betting the Chiefs to win the AFC West at -105 is such a smart move is how disastrous every other team in the division looks. Kansas City’s problem is the offense, and it’ll work itself out. Denver’s offense ranks 20th in yards per play, nearly every key offensive player in Los Angeles is injured, and the Raiders have Derek Carr.

You can confidently bet the Chiefs and you’d be crazy not to. The AFC West belongs to Kansas City – no team in the division looks strong enough to take the champs down.
