Around the AFC West: A bad week for the entire division

This week was just bad on bad on bad for the Chiefs. It began with the failures on special teams and progressed to even more failures on offense. It seemed like right from the start, no one could get a rhythm going. The rookies were not good at all: Skye Moore muffed a crucial punt, Isiah Pacheco could not return a kick to save his life, George Karlaftis was non-existent—just all-around a poor showing. I think maybe Jaylon Watson was the only one that didn’t stink.
And the poor play wasn’t just limited to the rookies. Dropped passes, ill-timed penalties, missed field goals, missed throws—it was just bad. This was maybe one of the more disappointing outings in the Mahomes era. The team had a mini-bye and came out flatter than flat-earthers believe the earth is. Ugly, ugly, ugly. But we must move on:
The biggest storyline heading into Sunday Night Football is the location of the game. Tampa Bay is currently about to get destroyed by a hurricane so we may be seeing this game in Minneapolis. (Side note, I will actually be in Minneapolis so maybe I can snag a ticket?) It’s the return of Tom Brady v. Patrick Mahomes and boy do both teams have something to prove. Neither has played particularly well the last couple of weeks and both need this game to keep pace in the division.
The Chiefs could have Harrison Butker back, but if not, this news dropped on Tuesday night:
Hopefully, Butker can make his return, but if not, we have a new kicker. Regardless, the Chiefs need to figure things out. They need a leader right now and they need the vets in the locker room to pull the team together and stun with a beautiful outing on Sunday nightl.
