Prior to the start of Week 3, the Buffalo Bills remained the favorites to come out of the AFC and advance to Super Bowl LVII. FiveThirtyEight (QB Adjusted) had the Bills as the overall favorites to win the Super Bowl at a 19% chance. In the AFC, after Buffalo, the Chiefs were at 12%, the Dolphins at 5%, then the Chargers and Ravens each at 4%, and then the Broncos and Browns both at 2%.

The Browns kicked off the week with a victory over their division rival Steelers. The Chiefs lost in embarrassing fashion to the Colts. The Bills fell the Dolphins in Miami. The Ravens topped the Patriots after another great performance by Lamar Jackson. The Titans bested the Raiders in a battle of 0-2 teams. The Texans lost to the Bears after a late Davis Mills interception. The Bengals got back on track with a victory over the Jets. The Chargers were absolutely pummeled by the Jaguars. The Broncos barely got by the 49ers after trailing for the majority of the game.

In a pivotal AFC North matchup, the Browns earned the victory and proved that they won’t go down without a fight sans Deshaun Watson. The Chiefs may need some additional time to get rolling, while the Colts squeaked out a win they definitely needed. The Bills may not run away with the AFC East after falling to the Dolphins. The Ravens are the favorites in the AFC North and the Patriots are holding their breath after Mac Jones was injured. The Titans are still alive in the AFC South, although the Raiders appear cooked in the AFC West. The Texans are in for another long season. The Bengals will still be a problem this season, in spite of the offensive line issues, and the Jets, like the Texans, have likely kissed their playoff dreams goodbye. The Chargers may fall victim to their injuries and the Jaguars may end up making the playoffs despite winning only four games over the past two seasons. The Broncos are somehow 2-1 even after three underwhelming performances.

After Week 3, eight teams in the AFC have a losing record and only seven teams have a winning record. Despite the loss, Five Thirty Eight still has the Buffalo Bills as the team with the best chance to win the Super Bowl out of all AFC teams with a 15% chance to win it all. After Buffalo, the Kansas City Chiefs are at 9%, then the Miami Dolphins at 8%, followed by the Baltimore Ravens at 7%, the Cleveland Brown are next at 3%, and the Denver Broncos, Cincinnati Bengals, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Indianapolis Colts all at a 2% chance to win the Super Bowl.

Heading into the season, the Bills and the Chiefs were considered the favorites in the AFC but the Miami Dolphins appear to be crashing the party. If the Chiefs want to continue to be favorites, they’ll have to figure it out on offense, especially with the wide receivers and offensive line.
